Laura is a new author to me. I liked this story and wish Heath and Savvy's story continued. Savvy wants to blend into the background at school. She has her close group of friends and is ok with that. Her life turns upside when her mom loses her job and they have to move in with her grandparents. Savvy's best friend is Heath. Their moms are best friends so Savvy never looked at him as more than a friend. Twist and turns will take Savvy on a journey before she realizes what she wants.YA, Drama, Romance, Suspense

Heath Cliffs Wandering Hearts eBook Laura Barnard Reviews
Heath, Cliffs, and Wandering Hearts is that quintessential British coming of age comedy much in the vein of the beloved Confessions of Georgia Nicholson series. Full of quirky, awkward moments, blunt commentary, and tons of drama, Heath, Cliffs, and Wandering Hearts is that fun read that’s perfect to sit back and relax with.
PROS
Teenagers flail. That make stupid choices, they’re super awkward, and they deal with very real consequences of their actions. They’re constantly worried about not moving fast enough, moving too fast, and how their peers see them. Laura Barnard totally captures that atmosphere of teen angst and insecurity. The world is real, vibrant, and full of lively, unique characters who will definitely leave a lasting impression.
Savannah is a mess. She’s frazzled, she’s clumsy, so has no clue what she’s doing and is constantly embarrassing or injuring herself. I loved that about her. In a YA world where girls need to be strong, fierce, and independent, Savannah is not. She’s just Savannah, a normal teenage girl wandering along trying to sort out her feelings and get through everyday drama. Her voice is strong.
The ANGST. The drama. It’s out of this world. It floods off every single page.
Heath is adorable. He’s attentive and playful and hot and always there for Savannah. He truly is a goofy knight eager to come to her rescue. You may feel the need to shout at the book, to tell Savannah to wake up, ignore that other fool and make a move. The tension is high and the wait is long, but…FIRE.
While some of the comedy was mild, other times it was laugh-out-loud, shake your head at how ridiculous this is. If you’re looking for a feel-good, light read this is definitely something you should check out.
CONS
Some of the humor fell a little flat. The timing was off or it felt forced in the situation.
The typical teenage trope of promiscuous and jealous, hot ex-girlfriend was the big villain.
One scene really bugged me because it was brushed off and not properly dealt with and then the dialogue between characters about it afterwards
was just (it was real because that’s how some idiots think, but still) frustrating. Plus, it didn’t feel necessary to the story. There was enough build up and pent up emotions anyway. I know I’m being super vague but I don’t want to spoil anything and the scene can be triggering to some.

Heath, Cliffs and Wandering Hearts was the first book of Laura's which I've had the pleasure of reading, and the book was a light hearted ya romance set in Britain. The book had some hilarious moments, especially at the dog salon, and some confused teenagers trying to make sense of the world. As well seeing life through a teenage girl's eye, you got to experience the second hand view of Australia through a blog.
Sav, Savannah, is a typical teenage girl who has her life changed through something beyond her control. So she hides are huge secret from her friends, because who would want to be friends with someone who lives in the rough part of town? Well, more people than Sav thought possible. I generally liked Savannah, her morals are good!, but I wanted to tell her that life isn't bad when it changes, it's just different. She's a loyal friend with a spunky attitude and likes to work hard. Her family is unusual, especially her nan, I liked her father and grandfather as they acted like should have whereas her nan tried to change how Savannah looked and acted which annoyed me even though the reasons were from the heart. When Savannah realises how her best friend is gorgeous and the kind of boyfriend she'd want, but there's an issue with realising how much she likes Heath. Her boyfriend.
Heath is a guy who every teenage girl wants. He's sweet, caring and a gentleman as well as being a great best friend. His jealously was so cute, even though he got a girlfriend in the book, but reading about him through Savannahs eyes really made him stick in my mind. But when Savannah and Heath are together, fireworks and electricity! I loved them together.
This book has a bit of everything. Drama, love, romance, bitchy girls, gorgeous guys and an incident with a dog. For me, it needed a little bit more romance and a deeper plot line. I'd have loved to understand why Savannah's brother left for Australia and why Savannah's mother lost her business. But I'd definitely read more books from Laura.
I found parts of this book slow and the ending cut short. But all in all an ok quick read
I had forgotten what it was like to be 16 and Laura Barnard took me right back to my teens and I loved every moment -) It really felt like I was right in there with them and it was such fun.The story was sweet, fun, funny and heartfelt and the characters wonderful. Thank you for this trip down memory Lane.
